Ron Beemster – Guitar & Improvisation
Ron Beemster offers courses in all styles of guitar. He teaches classical guitar covering all the RIAM grades, and specializes in jazz, blues and ragtime guitar, but is willing and able to teach other styles as well.
He also has developed an improvisation course, in which he systematically teaches all aspects of improvisation over the course of one year. This course is available for all singers and instrumentalists of grade 2 and higher, either individually or in small groups.
Ron has been playing guitar for the last 40 years. He started out playing pop and folk music in the 1970s (Dylan, CSNY, Eagles, etc), was in a trad band for a few years in the 1980s (playing guitar, thin whistle and bodhran), and currently concentrates on fingerstyle blues, jazz and ragtime.
In the last 5 years, he has organized guitar masterclasses in Sligo with Dakota Dave Hull and Duck Baker as tutors.
Ron has extensive teaching experience, having taught judo, English, biology and guitar over the last 30 years.
