Shaza O’Hara – Cello/Clarinet
Shaza O’Hara is from a well established musical family from Rosses Point.
She studied cello at the College of Music in Chatham row, Dublin ( now DIT) with teachers including Romanian Josef Calef, Niall O Loughlin, Christine Cooley and Joan Lavelle.
She was a founding member of the Amaryllis singers and also Sligo Baroque Orchestra directed by Rod Alston, and has played regularly with them for 15 years.
She has written and produced many Musical Marionette productions for children, and works regularly with the Sligo Music Education partnership,Live Music in the Classroom series for children.
Shaza has attended kinder music workshops with Naheed Cruikshank, specialising in music education for age 3-6.
Shaza has also attended many cello Master classes with renowned cellists, Tim Merton, Sarah Cunningham, and Richard Tunnicliffe , as well as orchestral and string workshops with the Vogler Quartet, Therese Timoney,- Dublin Baroque-, Moya Homburger and Barra Boydell.
Shaza has taught cello, clarinet, ensemble, and theory at Sligo Academy of music for the last 10 years, teaching and encouraging all her students from beginners to senior cert level in the RIAM exam system.
Shaza plays cello with the Innisfree String Quartet and also plays regularly with Sligo Chamber Orchestra.
