Clare Horler – Violin/Musical Explorers
Clare started to learn the violin at 8 years of age from school. After successfully completing her violin examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music she studied Music and Theatre Studies in Derwent side College, Durham. She was a member of the Durham County Youth Orchestra and performed in many concerts, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She studied a Suzuki Teacher Training course, which enabled her to start teaching children as young as 3 years of age.
As a student she was introduced to Irish traditional music and it was her love of Irish music which brought her to Ireland. She joined The Sligo Academy of Music in 2003 and teaches violin and music theory. She was a member of the Innisfree Quartet, and performed at weddings and conferences in Sligo, including a charity event attended by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Since 2003 she has been a member of the Sligo Baroque Orchestra leading 2nd violins and enjoys performing in concerts throughout the year.
